John Barrett, CFA
John Barrett is CEO, co-CIO (Chief Investment Officer), and Founding Partner of CrestFin Capital Partners, LLC.
Prior to forming CrestFin, John worked at Shorepoint Capital Partners as a portfolio manager covering equities across multiple sectors for Shorepoint’s Dividend Growth and Capital Appreciation investment strategies. Before Shorepoint, John spent 15 years at Columbia Threadneedle Investments. Over that 15 year period, John oversaw more than $2 billion in institutional client assets with the asset allocation group for 2 years, was a portfolio manager for Columbia Threadneedle’s $1.1 billion Small-Cap Value I portfolio for 5 years, and was a research analyst covering the consumer discretionary sector supporting all of Columbia’s portfolio managers for 8 years. Prior to joining Columbia Threadneedle, John spent 3 years at Gannett Welsh & Kotler Investment Management (“GW&K”) in Boston where he was an equity analyst covering consumer, media, and technology sectors. Before joining GW&K, John spent 5 years as a sector specialist in the consumer and cyclical sectors at Fidelity Investments. John started his career as an economist with the U.S. Department of Labor. John is a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society Boston. John holds an MBA from Boston College and a BS in Economics from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro.
John loves running and has completed the Boston Marathon for 29 consecutive years. He also loves coaching little league baseball which is how he met Phil and Steve.
Phil Petteruti
Phil Petteruti is a Portfolio Manager (PM), co-CIO, and Founding Partner of CrestFin Capital Partners, LLC.
Prior to forming CrestFin, Phil worked for 16 years as a Senior Scientist for Astrazeneca, PLC in both the Cancer Bioscience and Biologics units. His research spanned numerous oncology targets and pathways using small molecules and antibodies to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. His focus for the last 5 years was on using high-content imaging microscopy to develop screening assays for pre-clinical portfolio projects. His work helped multiple projects advance to clinical trials and he is authored on numerous scientific publications. Before joining Astrazeneca, Phil worked as a Scientist for GMP Genetics for 3 years where his work focused on building a genetic testing platform for early detection of cancer. Prior to that, Phil worked for 2 years at Massachusetts General Hospital researching mechanisms and models of blood clotting and platelet aggregation. Phil has been successfully investing in the stock market for over 10 years and has taken an active role in his portfolio management with a focus on biotech and healthcare for the last 5 years. Phil holds an MS in Biological Science from Stanford University, and a BA in Biology from Brown University.
Phil is an avid tuna and striped bass fisherman and also enjoys skiing, golfing, scuba diving, and hiking in his spare time.
Steve Buckley
Steve Buckley is the COO at CrestFin Capital Partners, LLC.
Prior to joining CrestFin, Steve was a Partner and Director of Operations at RDC Capital Partners, a Boston based start-up hedge fund. While at RDC, Steve built out the operations platform, ensured proper processes and controls were in place, and successfully performed several non-operations tasks that are typically required in a start-up environment. Prior to RDC, Steve worked for nearly 12 years at Harvard Management Company, the world’s largest college endowment. Steve has a wealth of operations experience across multiple business units and asset classes. Steve holds a BA from Georgetown University.
Steve enjoys playing basketball and coaching baseball. He played college baseball at Georgetown. He also enjoys golfing, tennis, and the beach.
